Capturing from VCR with MF5

Post by gm101 »

I have downloaded a trial version of MF5 and would like to know if I can capture video from a VCR.
I have a VCR connected to my PC via the USB (2.0) port using a MEDION Videograbber. When I enter the capture panel, MF5 shows the device as "Analogue TV" but when I start to capture, all I get is a black screen.

Is there anyting I can do toe get it to recognise the USB device?
Thanks
Chris

To capture analog video in real time takes a powerful PC. add a generous portion of unlikely luck to it and you might be able to do it with a USB device on top of that.

There are a few peolple who claim to have been able to do it with a USB 2.0 device but I have yet to see one that works with my own eyes.

Please fill in your system details in your profile and give us all the detail you can get on your capture device.

I have a Dell 2.8ghz pentium 4 with 1 gig RAM and a 7200 hard disk with at least 50 gig free. The capture device is a USB 2.0 MEDION Videograbber.

I have used a program that came with the videograbber and that worked fine as far as the video was concerned but the audio was badly distorted - sounded as tho the input volume was way too high producing the distortion. Another program I have was ok for about 10 sec but after that it gave up.

I was trying MF5 to see if that would solve the sound problem.
Thanks
