Submenus

Post by Scorpio »

I've been trying to create submenus under other menus in Movie Factory, but have been unsuccessful so far. :(

Is this possible in Movie Factory, or can you only create one line of menus?

Cheers

Scorpio :)

It works very fine.

So you take two menues in the menuestory-board. You avtive the first one by double click so that it is shown in the mainscreen. Then you click once on the second menue and take it per drag-and-drop in the mainscreen. If you have a button in the first menue you can also take the second menue on this button.

Sorry for my bad englisch.

Hi Georg

Thanks for your help (or should that be Danke!).

I tried what you suggested on both the Add/Edit Media and Setup Menu forms (I wasn't sure which form you were referring to), but nothing happened (this was with the DVD option). Could you please tell me where I'm going wrong.

Cheers

Hi Scorpio,

Georg is showing you screenshots of DVD Workshop, a much more powerful DVD authoring tool.

In DVD Movie Factory, submenus are only created if you add chapter points to the individual video clips.

Select a clicp. Click on add/edit media. Add your chapter points either automatically based on time spacing or by manually adding chapter points at you specified time. Select OK.

When you go to the next page, you will see that you have submenus now based upon the files that you added chapter points to.

In the Add/Edit Media page of DVD MovieFactory you should click on the Add/Edit Chapter button and then you can add/edit the chapters to the selected video clip as you wish.

In the Setup Menu page you should click on the Advanced Settings button then check the Create Chapter Menu setting.

Hope this helps.

Hi htchien

When I open the Add/Edit Chapter page, only the Auto button is activated, likewise in the Setup Menu page, the Advanced Settings menu does not have the Create Chapter Menu activated.

I've played around with the Add/Edit Media page to try and get these functions working, but have been unsuccessful.

Do you have any further suggestions? Thanks for your help.

Cheers

To have other buttons in the Add/Edit Chapter page to be activated, you will need to use mouse to click on the Job Bar and move it, then you will see those buttons to be activated and you can click on them to add the chapters.

If you add the chapters successfully, then the Create Chapter Menu option in the Setup Menu page will be activated.

Hope this helps.

Add Chapters First

Post by GeorgeW »

Hi,

Which version of MovieFactory are you using? Be as descriptive as possible.

As mentioned in other posts, you need to add/define your chapters first, then the menus will be generated based on whether you want a Chapter Menu, and how many chapter points you have vs. the number of chapter buttons on the menu template you select.

So, you don't go to the MENU step to add chapters. You do it in the first step where you are adding all your titles to the timeline. You should see a button to "Add/Edit Chapter" -- this will bring up a new screen for you to define your chapter points.
