GIF Animator 5 XP installation problem

Post by gbehrman »

I have been using GA5 on my WindowsMe pc OK. I have the CD complete with product serial number.

I am now trying to install this product on my new WindowsXP MCE computer, but after entering the product serial number the NEXT button remains greyed out.

I have tried running the RUNAS command as the Administrator, but it makes no difference. The NEXT button remains unavailable.

Any ideas, anybody?

Thanks

Have you tried logging in as an administrator and installing?

Any further details would be useful and appreciated. Such as type of anti-virus, firewall, anti-spyware apps, what version of XP (home or pro) and what service pack. Thanks.

As I said in my post, I tried to do the installation with the RUNAS command signed on as the Administrator even though being the sole user of a stand-alone system I already have administrator status.

I am using RUNAS because the Administrator logon only displays on my startup screen when I am in safe mode, and in safe mode I don't think my CD drive works.

As I mentioned in my post, I am using WindowsXP MCE. I have SP2 installed and am using McAfee anti-virus and ZoneAlarm firewall; currently I don't have any anti-spyware installed.

Any help appreciated.

Reboot your PC. Disable McAfee, and if you have ZoneAlarm's Program Control on, turn it off too.

Triple-check that you have the Product Key/Serial No. entered correctly. Be patient during the install, just in case.

That's all I can suggest from here at the moment.

The next step would be to contact Ulead's technical support.

Best of luck!

I read a similar post here a couple of weeks ago and the cause on that occaision turned out to be that the member hadn't inserted anything in the "Company Field" on the registration screen.
As a private user I place my postcode in that box.

 Duh... You may be onto something, Steve! I forgot about silly things like that. I just stick "N/A" in there usually...
