Taken a cropped area of video2 and placing it at the bottom

Post by RSteiner09 »

Can anyone tell me the basic steps for taking a cropped area from video2 and placing it at the bottom of video1. At the moment, I have the area of video2 I need cropped, but I'm not sure what the next step is to taking JUST THE CROPPED AREA over onto video1.

Thanks

Here's how I would do it:

1. Use the Video Filter 'Cropping' to get your video track (video2) cropped to the right size and dimensions.

2. Use a colour like Red or Green as the 'Fill Color'

3. In Overlay Options for the video (video2), select 'Color Key', and make the color the same as you set for the cropping filter.

4. Use a 'Moving Path' to move the video (video2) to wherever you want it to be.

5. Have video2 on a higher track number than video1, so that video2 is displayed over the top of video1

I just tried this to make sure I knew what I was talking about, and it can make a pretty cool effect!

Assuming MSP8, read pp 124-131 of the manual for a better understanding. This specifically mentions picture-in-picture effects, some of which are standard moving-path templates.

Well, you did ask! Steps 2 and 3 are not necessary! :)
