Where are the templates?

Post by shelby »

I tried the new Movie Factory 5. Their are only a couple of menu templates. Am I missing something? What good is it to make a movie dvd if you can't pick a template that matches your need? Thanks for any comments or help.

Hi Shelby,

You have the trial version? It only comes with a couple. Enough so you will know how it works. When you buy the full version there will be more..

shelby / haydn,

When you installed "dmf5_content_e.exe" (the 89mb standalone content installer) did the process seem to run properly? Any error messages, etc.,? If you check the MF5 4x3 directory [ C:\Program Files > Ulead Systems > Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5 > Content > Background > 4X3 ] how many .jpg images are in the folder? There should be 48.

There should also be a number of files in C:\Program Files > Ulead Systems > Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5 > Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5 > Content > Menu Template > 4x3. The list is a bit long to post in the forum but if you would like to see it for purposes of comparison let me know.

BTW, I'm just using 4X3 as an example. There should also be similar file sets for your 16X9 and HDBasic templates and backgrounds folders.

As far as I know, the "trial" version doesn't convert. Once you have purchased the full version from Ulead's web site you should receive an email containing your registration key and seperate download links for the registered version of MF5 plus the "content" installer. You need to download BOTH of these files.

Next, uninstall the trial version and make sure the MF5 directory in Program Files has been removed. If not, delete it. Then in My Computer run "disc cleanup" on the drive where you installed the MF5 trial version and reboot.

Finally, install the registed version of MF5 and enter the key when prompted by the installer. When complete, you can install the "content" and reboot.

The "subject" of the email message you're looking for is "Download link and license key for Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5"

The download links are in "Section A" of the message and the registration key in in "Section B".

That said, Ulead may have other delivery and/or installation options but this is how mine was structured.

Even when you get the full download you will be dissappointed. I have no idea what the 80+MB of 'extra content' was supposed to be, but very little of it went into providing templates. Even giving you all that MF4 had previously would have been better than what is provided in MF5. You will have to do what most of us are doing - copying old .ufo files, audio files, background files etc from MF4 into the relevant MF5 directories. You can also try dowloading the free trials of all other Ulead products and 'pinching' any valuable audio, video or .ufo files!! It is sad when we have to resort to this - all Ulead need to do is keep old content and ADD to it as new versions appear, but then again I don't suppose any of the Ulead developers actually USE their own product on a daily basis!!!!!

Ihave the full version of MOVIE FACTORY 5, the menu templates are there, if U look in C:// program Files/Ulead /Contents, but they dont show up in the GALLERY, I also get now sound when importing from camera or vcr, not my set up, because everything works in 4, and they havent cured sound going out of synch when editing with transitions!
