Running old VS8 project under VideoStudio 9

Post by ranis »

Hello, I am trying to get some help about a problem I'm having with my old VideoStudio 8 projects. It seems they are not compatible with the new VideoStudio 9 version. I cannot run any of them with VS9. I'm only getting the following error message: "Failed to use Direct Show video engine. The operation cannot be performed because the pins are not connected. [13102:2:4]". I would appreciate any suggestions on how to solve this if it's possible. Thank you.

Although a newer version can open an earlier versions project the veterans of this forum always take the view that existing projects should be completed in the version from which they began.

I will go back to my older version then. Actually I just did and because I had not opened my old projects for some time, now it said all files needed to be relinked. I figured out it's because of the daylight changes and installed the appropriate daylight fix update. All the ingredients of the projects were automatically relinked. However I cannot play a project now before first go through rendering. When i press play it starts to render. This used to happen only at the end, when I was ready to export the project into mpeg file. And now I can't even play a project without waiting some hours to render...

Hi Ranis,

Go to File>Preferences and change "High Quality" to "Instant" Playback.
