I'm very new to transferring video to DVD drive on my Windows XP computer. I'm trying to transfer movies recorded on a Sony Digital Video Camera Recorder to DVD using MovieFactory v5. I've tried all formats available and still the quality of the transferred movie is terrible.
Any suggestions would be great.
Secondly, when I create a New Project it records some canned piano music instead of the sound that was on the tape.
Please help!
How to get the best quality DVD using MovieFactory 5

I suspect that you are attempting to transfer your video with a supplied USB cable. These are not suitable for doing this and the veterans of this forum have never understood why the manufacturers supply this lead.
To transfer your video you need an IEEE1394 firewire cable also known as i-Link.
If you dont have one then they are reasonably cheap to purchase. firstly check to see if your computer has a firewire connection terminal. If not then purchase a video editing kit. Here in the UK at PC World the kit costs approx £15 (GBP) and inside the box you will find a card that fits into one of the slots on your computers motherboard, the cable that connects your camcorder to the card and a CD. You do not need the CD and can dispose of it.
Once connected to your computer this way the computer will control the camcorder, you will be able to rewind, fast forward, play etc from the keyboard.
You will probably find that this will also clear the problem you have with the mystery soundtrack.
