Problem on the Create Video File Phase

Post by Ericl »

According to the recommended procedure for success with Video Studio,
I was doing it pretty bad, but i would say 95% of my DVDs were succesfully burned.
Now that I am following it, it lowed down to 50%.
The problem is this:
I had this VHS tape from a client 4 hours long. I had to capture it in two parts for lack of space. At the time of edit, I recompose the whole movie joining the two parts. Then I create the Video file. When I check it later on on BSplayer, it stops at the exact point of junction though i can play it forward to the end. But when playing on a Home DVD, it would stop completly.
I thought the fact of creating a Video file would gather all effect and overlay, etc, in one single file, a bit like a bounce in Audio, but there is this problem I don't understand; It did three times already.
Thanks for any help

Firstly you need to complete your system details on your profile page.
Then you need to tell us how you transferred the VHS into your computer, what settings were used etc.

I have updated my profile...
I use a Pinnacle card to capture VHS or DV to the computer.
As it was a long time tape (4 hours), i followed the procedure, captured as mpeg, used a low bitrate (4000) and low frame size, upper field first. I live in Brasil which use PAL system so 25.00 fps
it stills occupied a large space on the HD. So I decide to record the other part on other HD. Then i edited it in VS9, putting the two parts on the timeline.
At the time of creating the file, I selected "same as Project settings"
My point is that though i reunite the two parts in one single file, VS saw it like one file with two chapters which is not what I wanted. So at the time of editing the menu, i didn't create chapters. For me it was one single file, no need of chapters but when I played it on a home DVD, it just stops at the exact point of junction.
I think i'm just missing something in the abundance of options within VS9
Hope you have enough infos..
Thanks a lot

When you say that you joined the two "halves" together, did you then go to the share tab and select Create Video file?
I suspect that you have selected "Create Disc" which would cause this problem.

Please view the recommended procedure here:

Sorry I couldn't respond earlier.
Well, this is just my point, following the recomended procedure and creating a video file, I thought the two parts will join and make one. Actually, VS keeps seeing the two originals files as chapters.
So my question would be How to create one single file out of two?

Thanks for your attention

Did you put both halves onto the timeline and then create ONE file from the two?

Just to be completely sure we are talking about the same thing here, when you put the two halves on the timeline, did you then click on Share > Create Video File > DVD, or did you click on Share > Create Disc > DVD? (It should have been the former...)
