I've encountered a problem a couple of times now where I get really fuzzy audio, to the point where nothing is inteligable, after creating MPEG-2 files and after capture. When the file is played on the computer in a media player (Windows, Real, Winamp, etc.) the audio is horrible, but if I open it in Video Ediotor (MSP8) it plays fine and if it's burned to a DVD it's fine. But played as a file it is very very bad.
I was able to re-render one of them and it turned out fine after that. The only thing I did different was to close WinAmp which I didn't realize was on the first time. The other times though I didn't have anything else running. Has anyone else run into this or am I special?

Creative sound cards have been causing grief for a lot of people over the years. Your problem seems to point in the same direction.
Do you have a chance (like swap with a friend for a test) to use another sound card and re-render?
I had a lot of sound problems with MSP 6.5 a few years ago. Nothing would fix it and it wasn't present all the time either. Changing the sound card fixed it for good.

If you have more than one app opening into the sound card simultaneously, then all sorts of things may happen. I dictate web site reviews for techie journals, using a voice recognition proggy. The accuracy is typically 99+% except when I have a web site with an audio stream open, when it drops to ~40-50% until I stop viewing that site. On playback, I hear only my voice, but very badly distorted.
Hope this helps!

Hmmm, the sound card may indeed me the culprit. Overnight I was capturing something and on checking it this morning it has this same problem. And Video Capture was the only app running. Actually, it seems to be only with MPEG capture and rendering an MPEG file. At least that's what I've been doing when I noticed it. I'll try capturing and rendering an AVI after work today and see what happens.
Thanks for the info guys.
