We want WS3! We want WS3!
Wow, what a Christmas present this is! I can still use my DVD WS2 to make 16:9 DVDs. I have printed out all these links and will try them over the holidays. I have two weeks off, that should give me time to get VS 11 plus running and burn some 16:9 DVDs with my old friend DVD WS 2. Thank you everybody that has contributed to this fix, work around, what ever you choose to call it! Thank you very much!

"The software company will focus upon developments of VideoStudio and Movie Factory and "Other products" (From this I assume they include PhotoImpact). "
By "Other products" do you mean they will be continuing to focus developments on MSP as well?

(hand raised) I'm in!
I would love to see an update to this great software. For those of us that have a multi-monitor setup, I would like to see a customizable interface that will allow me to utilize both monitors.
Also allowing the user to change colors to the standard green chroma key in slide show transitions, would be a big improvement.
I foresee, now that corel owns this asset, they will try and bundle a lot of their software, just like Adobe does with its creative suite.
Ulead did an awesome job and I prefer this Software over other packages. Please see my review at epinions.com (http://www.epinions.com/content_345486888580).
Thanks and I hope we get DVDWS3

I think that would be a great option/feature. Just like other Editing/Authoring applications allow you to utilize multiple monitors...cgman wrote:I would love to see an update to this great software. For slideshows, you could get better features by using software designed to create slideshows (and output a video). Then just import the slideshow as a video title into your authoring application.cgman wrote: Also allowing the user to change colors to the standard green chroma key in slide show transitions, would be a big improvement.

Like I Reported in Aug '06...
DVDWS ended at Version 2...

It's truly a shame as many others have stated - DVDWS was a great product. Wonder if Corel would be interested in selling it off to someone else who wants to develop it?

(Even more dead now with yet another layer of acquisition)
The beta team for DVDWS3 was disbanded 9 months ago.
Even your June '06 link claims that DVDWS2 is "on Hold" which is a far cry from being in beta testing as your report of being made a beta tester in March '06 implied. Your being made a beta tester of an "on hold" product and one for which the beta team was disbanded 4 months earlier to your becoming a beta tester speaks to itself.
Then add to this that no where on the official Ulead site can a reference to on-going development and/or beta testing (meaning a DVDWS3 or patch is being refined by a team of chosen testers), speaks volumes. Who can vouch for the validity of the poster in the link to a non-Ulead website? Why would a Ulead official choose to respond on a non-Ulead site when the same questions have been asked time and again on their own official website. The only reliable spokesperson source for a Ulead product is on a Ulead official website. There is nothing there.
I hope for the sake of those still waiting for DVDWS3 to provide at least a 16:9 menu authoring (16:9 which has been prevalent for many years) that something is happening. Or better yet, that the facts are not reality and DVDWS3 is being worked on. But current factual official info and facts show it is not being worked on.
Bottom line:
-Beta team disbanded in Dec '06
-Not a single official Ulead site announcement or Ulead Corp press release
-An unofficial non-Ulead site statement from someone claiming to be a Ulead management official stating DVDWS2 is "On Hold" in June while you claim to be made a beta tester in March '06 of a product which is On Hold - and that was your provision of the link.
That is what I was implying.

Thanks for telling me I'd been sacked as a Beta tester, nice to knowMind you, your time scales are all to c***, as we are in August 2006 here in the UK and the time difference isn't that great is it.........

You may want to research what happened to the first original DVDWS3 beta testing team in Dec '05 before you are more![]()
Further, you may want to let whomever at Ulead is running the beta team that there is a posting on another website alledgedly from Ulead management that DVDWS status is said to be "On Hold" as of June '06. If that is incorrect and they are continuing to invest in it's development, they may want to counter what would then be a false or incorrect statement.
Seems a total waste of space to me, but if it keeps you happy.......
How do you know the beta testing team has been disbanded in December 2006? When December 2006 is 3 months away?
What happened to the beta testing team in December 2005?
Nobody told me anything and I was part of that team.
Do you not think that members of beta testing teams don't continually tallk to their product group managers?

And since then there have been two changes of ownership.
1st was Intervideo
2nd Corel.
Also since then Microsoft have released Microsoft Vista.
You need to keep up with the times.
As I have stated, Corel are NOT going to develop DVD Workshop or release any further Service Packs. I know that hurts but you asked for truthful answers and truthful answers have been given.

Ah yes lightprism, I see now, yes maybe you were right, doesn't that make you feel grand.
But as there still hasn't been an official announcment and WS2 still remains for sale, maybe, just maybe they will do something.
At the time of those posts, some 18 months ago, everything said by us was true, we were testing a WS3 and were hoping it would make it to sale, we just didn't have the knowledge we have today..................

Like I said before, as far as I'm concerned they can call their dvd authoring software anything they want, and by any name they want. We can still hope they just use their brains and make the front end user interface EXACTLY like DVDWorkshop. If they do that, shoot, they can call it Movie Factory 7 if they like

No - actually it makes me feel terrible in most ways save one - at least I was one small source of info of what would become of DVDWS so others could maybe make a more informed decision to move on with other authoring solutions. I feel mostly terrible because our guys loved the ease of use yet depth of customization that DVDWS has. We moved to Encore and it's just quirky and clunky compared to DVDWS. But it's easier than the 16:9 DVDWS workaround and can produce the occasional Blu-Ray project.skier-hughes wrote:Ah yes lightprism, I see now, yes maybe you were right, doesn't that make you feel grand.

As indicated by another - if Corel wants to call it by another name and update with the same great functionalty and customization of DVDWS ... by all means YES!
If Corel doesn't want to develop it, maybe the long time length and volume of this thread of interest in it's future may indicate the potential for selling it to another company who sees the market for a DVDWS interface?
Always hopeful...
We've not tried the other Ulead authoring solutions that have been updated. How do they compare to DVDWS in ease of use and level of customization?
(and skier-hughes and heinz - maybe ease up on folks who provide info different from your viewpoint or perspective - all accurate info is valuable - lambasting people and labeling them trolls isn't)
