Like other users of DVDWS2 I need it to run on my new computer, which came with Vista (and I am not shelling out for yet another XP license to dual-boot!) and my video camera and TV etc are all now 16:9.
Here's hoping.
So where is your old computer?

It's difficult to scale it as 1 vs. 10 -- because MovieFactory 6+ actually has features not found in DVD WS 2.x

Furthermore, MovieFactory 6+ also has features not found in Architect Studio

However, I also acknowledge that DVDWS2.x and Architect Studio have features not found in MovieFactory 6+ (guess it depends on what features you need to determine what's best for your situation...)

In other words, if you compare Mangos (DVD WS2) with Apples (DVD MF6+), DVD AS would be an Orange or, maybe, a Lemmon, right?

Think we now know for certain that WS3 is off the back burner and in the trashcan - just tried to buy WS2 but it's not for sale any more.

Just tried to buy WS2 from Ulead site, (for a friend, having recommended it as the best prosumer DVD authoring product).

It's not for sale any more - what a surprise (not) ?

What's this super new product I saw mentioned in this thread, hope not a new version of dreadful MovieFactory DVD Authoring for Idiots.

No, I was looking at Ulead UK Online Store. UK site does have a description page for Workshop, but no buy option.

Odd it's apparently still for sale in US ?

I do wish we could be put out of our agony by a definite statement from Corel.

Sorry, I thought you are an employee.
Where can I ask because that regard Ulead Power Tools install?

Why verkaut Ulead further the product, if you do not support?

I understand the politics of Ulead.

It was simply brilliant.

Do we really Adobe Encore?
Why bring out the updates and Ulead.
Very very sad

Thank you
For your help.

PS: Too bad it's not a forum where there is also Ulead / Corel tuned. Schad which it is no longer necessary.

Following the development above regarding the removal of DVD Workshop 2 from the Corel Store I have contacted Corel. I have received confirmation that there will be no service packs and there are no plans to create a new version.

The software company will focus upon developments of VideoStudio and Movie Factory and "Other products" (From this I assume they include PhotoImpact).

Perhaps it is a sad day but at least this is confirmation of what we all expected and allows our members to make firm plans regarding any future upgrades of their DVD authoring software.

RIP - DVDWorkshop

This is very sad news that Corel have decided to bin the BEST dvd creation product in the world and carry on with DVD Moviefactory for idiots.

Moviefactory is rubbish it is very very basic.

I have just recommended DVDWS2 to several charities. Oh well I supposed I will have to do what many people will be doing in the future and find new Video editing and DVD authoring products.

One thing is for sure they WON'T be from Corel.

Thanks for getting Corel to own up at last to killing off DVD Workshop - case of quantity sales winning over quality ?

I'm going to give Moviefactory 6 a try - looks better than 4 at first glance, but that's not saying much !

Anyone with good reports of other DVD authoring packages like Workshop ?

Maybe start a new thread for non-Corel DVD authoring products ?

I can't understand why any company would so easily turn its back on such a splendid product as Workshop 2.

Seriously - does Corel deserve our support with a replacement/alternative?!

Beyond WS2

Post by Eddie333 »

Being new to the forums, please forgive me if I step on any toes. I am returning to some heavy duty editing after being away from it for a couple of years. I am currently getting VS11 Plus working so I can edit HD material, I have gotten some direction in the VS branch of these forums.

I had used DVD WS 1 and 2. I espically love WS 2 and am quite proud of results obtained with it! I am terribly sorry to see there will never be WS 3.

So, what are my options to make DVDs in 16:9 and have the same or better capabilities as WS 2?

If we stick to the "Ulead" range of programs then for 16.9 menus you have (in order of preference for DVD authoring)
DVD MovieFactory 6+
VideoStudio 11.5+

They do not have all the functions you enjoy with Workshop such as creating a menu from blank, playlists, subtitle and additional audio tracks.

Your work rounds for these limitations are
1. Creating a DVD Menu template from scratch using PhotoImpact
Tutorial: PhotoImpact: Creating DVD Menu from scratch
2. Using your tried and trusted DVD Workshop you can create a 4.3 menu in the normal way and burn to a hard drive folder and then follow this procedure:
