We want WS3! We want WS3!

Please, no more suggestions for features; that is off-topic for this thread, which is meant only to wake Ulead up to the fact that the clients are wanting WS3. If we get bogged down in suggestions, pricing issues and other non-sequiturs, then it may dilute the effectiveness of the thread. Thanks.

Sorry about that, just thought that giving a grass roots comment on the pricing issue might shed light on why DVDWS hasn't been a money spinner. Please feel free, anyone with the power, to delete my posts.Devil wrote:Please, no more suggestions for features; that is off-topic for this thread, which is meant only to wake Ulead up to the fact that the clients are wanting WS3. I get your point. I was thinking though that by putting some ideas here as well
Without going into depth AND without this then becoming a debate upon those suggestions
it would help show to Ulead why
We want WS3.

Same here, You can edit/delete mine if they are being counter-productive.heinz-oz wrote:[.....Sorry about that, just thought that giving a grass roots comment on the pricing issue might shed light on why DVDWS hasn't been a money spinner. Please feel free, anyone with the power, to delete my posts.

I personally would like it much more if there would be a DWS 2.5

I wouldnt spend much money for HDTV (I dont have and dont consider to buy a HD camcorder or TV), but I might upgrade to DWS3 if it had
I like DWS2 for its easy handling.

- 16:9
- full unicode support
- would align buttons correctly
- would allow to reorder buttons / assign button sequences
- fixed the subtitle bug
- improved scrolling like MSP8 (MF has also, as far as I know)

Not really! Sorry, Devil, but the features are the whole freekin' point... I have no idea what's going to be in WS3. I'm NOT going to upgrade just because Ulead comes out with something called "WS3"! How can anybody say "I want WS3", when WS3 doesn't exist, and nobody knows what's it's going to be? And, like Helge, I don't care if it's called "WS2.5". If it has the features I want (at the right price), I'll upgrade. Please, no more suggestions for features; that is off-topic for this thread...
Maybe the feature-set is already locked-in, and they are working on the details... Maybe you know that, but we don't.

I'm doing my part to contribute to the clamor for a new version of DVD Workshop. I have the Express version and I love the application. It is simple to use and powerful in its creative control. I think many consumers (like me) would buy it if they tried it and discovered how easy it is to create totally custom menus, with results that always impress my family and friends. I agree, though, that it needs an upgrade. One feature in MF that would really be handy in WS is multi-trim. I hope that I'm not forced to look for another prosumer DVD authoring package. I thought I'd found THE ONE. Attention Ulead: roll out WS3 and market it heavily with free trials. If people try it, they will buy it.
PLEASE UPDATE DVD WORKSHOP!

I would like to echo the call for WS3, currently I have WS2, Movie Factory 2(came with MSP7), MF3 (bought) and MF4(with MSP8), and now we have MF5, would really like to see a WS3 and make a comparison between that and MF5 before I purchase anything, I will not purchase MF5 until I have at least seen the capabilities of WS3(if it ever gets here).

Greg

I would like to change the colour of grid to suit the background and be able to do 16:9 menus

I've got to chime in here, too. Yes! I eagerly anticipate 3.
I hope what I'm reading here is merely a dust-up and DVDWS is not dead. I purposely bought this because I'm not a huge fan of Adobe (especially since they've stolen Macromedia) so I really count on DVDWS.
As far as the bugs and features...does anyone recall version 1.0? 1.1 and 2.0 were leaps ahead of that so I praise the development team for their work and suspect 3.0 will be more than a bug fix, but have features not available in 2.0.
