"SerializeBB Error" followed by "Load From St

Post by geraghtyg »

Hi

I am getting the above messages when trying to open VS9. Has been working fine up to now. I've tried un-installing and re-installing several times but to no avail. I have done a search and seen possible fixes for version 8 but could not find anything for version 9. Does anyone know of a fix for this, please?
I am quite desperate as I have a project with a deadline of this Friday!!!
The fixes for version 8 involved doing things such as cleaning up the registry, something which I have not done before and would not be too keen on doing unless I knew exactly what I was doing.

Typical that this would happen right on the run-up to deadline day.

Grrrrrr

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Here is the procedure for doing a complete, clean uninstall/re-install of VS9:

Code: Select all

CLEAN UNINSTALL OF VS9:

1) Clean up C:\Windows\temp directory. Clean up all files in C:\Documents and
Settings\[UserName]\Local Settings\Temp folder. Uninstall VideoStudio 9 from
control panel Add/Remove programs.
Delete following folders
=>C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead
VideoStudio
=>C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SmartSound Software Inc
=>C:\Documents and Settings\[Username]\My Documents\Ulead VideoStudio
=>C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\

Proceed to step 2, even if you can't complete step 1.

2) Delete folder {88F92798-59AB-474F-B40D-1EC5F782F7EE} in
C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information (Please set "Show hidden
files and folders." in folder option in OS)

3) Please del the folder " Ulead VideoStudio 9.0" folder in C:\program
files\ulead system
4) Run Regedit from Start/Run in Windows task bar
5) Delete folder {88F92798-59AB-474F-B40D-1EC5F782F7EE} in
KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\
(If you always see Ulead VideoStudio 9 file name showed in the Add/Remove
Program, please do point 5)
6) Then reinstall UVS 9 again
For cleaning the registry, just follow what it says above and you should be alright.

Videoman - many many thanks for your amazingly prompt response. I'm off to bed as it's after 1am here but I'll check this out first thing tomorrow morning and put my results here.

Thank you again. I really do appreciate your help

Oh, sorry to bother you again but when you say "clean up files", do you mean just delete them all? I'm afraid of what to delete!!!

Yep, yes sir, you got it, the big delete key...:)

Those folders Temp hold files that are used just temporarily, while a program is running. However not many programs clean up after themselves once they are done. So your left with stuff in these Temp folders.

DON'T DELETE THE TEMP FOLDERS, just all the files inside the temp folders.

If it says to delete a folder or file above it is safe to do so. I have followed those procedures several times when having to do a reinstall. Just on your registry, make sure you are deleting the what it specifically states.

Well that didn't work, unfortunately - The accompanying windows error includes:
AppName: vstudio.exe AppVer: 9.0.0.0 ModName: ultitlemgr.dll
ModVer: 1.0.0.1 Offset: 00001c3e

I can go on to the further details section which goes on and on on. But I wouldn't do that.

Will have to keep trying or learn quickly how to use Media Studio 8 which I installed a while back.

VS 8 wont open the project so it's all bad news

What were doing when you received that error?
I don't know what the error means, but maybe we figure it out. Have you tried contacting Ulead Tech support? Don't just send them an email from your email client. Go to their website and complete the form. I contacted them the other day and had an answer within 24 hrs.. Click on the link below, and go down to Option 5, click on the Technical Support Link. You will have to log in inorder to access the form.

Thanks once again Ron. This comes up with the "windows as encountered an error...." message following the serializebb error and load from program stream error. Sure I'll try tech support. Hopefully they will have some sort of a solution.

Do you have any antivirus programs such as McAfee running when you are trying to install or run Video Studio? I've been doing google searches for the error message you are receiving and I've found McAfee tied to one. I know on another software package I have, McAfee tends to wreck it...
