Suggestion Referance Sticky Posts

Post by Ron P. »

Why does the moderators or Admin not Lock the Sticky posts. I think the intention was to have people read them instead of adding to it with questions. No wonder there is starting to be so much confusion, when we advise to follow the recomended procedures, it's 8 pages long now. If people have questions they should be posted as a thread, not tacking on to the end of the sticky thread..

I know JC Hunter is the author, but I thought the moderators had the authority to lock them. I just ask that we try to get it under control. It does need to be revamped in the worst way.

Ron,
Good question!

I have asked that the top sticky be closed beginning at the time it was made sticky. All in all, I have requested about a dozen times thru emails to the various administrators or whoever seemed to have some responsibility at the time and never even got a response.

I also posted a standing request at the end of the first post and a request to users to post in the main body of the forum.

It is quite confusing to newcomers and many assume that the first sticky IS the place to post questions.

If anyone is listening, please close the stickies to additional posts!

Hi guys,

Don't know whom you have approached in the past. Maybe we should have a concerted effort and each of us send a pm to ArcAngel and phpbbadmin, asking for the very thing. It's useless the way the stickies are handled sometimes and especially in the VS case.

When I created mine in the PI forum, I locked them straight away.

The post is currently locked (as of a couple of minutes ago).

I think a new post is needed -- sort of a consolidated list of all the info contained in the first one (just to minimize confusion).

I'm not sure who was asked to lock the post -- it was a sticky long before I became a moderator...

Regards,
George

Well done George, and soooo quickly.

Now, if one of us creates a new sticky, the same thing will happen :? Maybe we should volunteer you 8) to weed out the existing or create a new one with only the constructive ones from the original left in it (don't forget to lock it though  )
