out of synch problems.

this has just recently started happening to me. i have 512 ram and 40 gb of hard drive space free. im trying to convert some old videos from my video camera. i have tried making it a dvd and burned it and it came out 2 seconds out of synch. The person would look like there talking then 2 seconds later say something. then i tried a svcd and burned it and it came out the opposite way. the person talking then the video shows it talking. anyone know what i should do to fix the problem? i never run any programs while its converting and i turn the moniter off and let it run till its done. i even burn at the slowest speed possible and still it is out of synch.
