Cannot create a clip spanning files, please help

I captured my DV tape to my hd using WinDV and set the file size at about 1gb. I've loaded all of the files into UVS8 library on the left and then dragged them in order to the timeline. Almost all of the scenes span file boundaries so I set a Mark in and Mark out point with F3 and F4 to grab a full scene, but it doesn't seem to span across the individual files. What I want to end up with is instead of a bunch of 1gb files cut off in the middle of scenes, I'd like each scene in it's own file, regardless of size. Can someone help me? I'm obviously missing something simple.

You could render all of the individual files into one output file, and then work with that...

Why didn't you capture in UVS8 using batch capture, then you could have captured only what you want as individual files without having to do further editing.
