Did you never need to have a second (a third) level of menus?
I can't conceive a program would not allow you to make submenus.
Every other 40-50$ program from the competition allows practically unlimited levels. And I own quite a few oldies (Roxio, Sonic come to mind).
Only MF will not let you put a title in anything but a same-level menu page (or page series).

I wonder if the people at Ulead still live in a world where their computer have only one file directory level. Do they put eveything under C:\ ?
Impossible to organize things a little if you can't sort them in different levels.

You can have 2-level menus in DVDMF, 1 level is the root menu, the 2nd level is the chapter menu.

Hope this helps.

Sure! I'll just call the friendly 800 number... or fill-out the handy feedback and suggestion form...

I assume somebody at Ulead reads these forums. But, it might be the wrong people (not the top marketing people), or more-likely their strategy is to focus on the mass-market. They have chosen a strategy, and it seems to be working for them.

Clearly, Workshop is not a big seller and Ulead knows that it's never going to have the mass-market appeal of Movie Factory or Photo Impact.

I just added my vote to the We want WS3 post. Thanks, Devil.

That is true. The issue is you cant MANUALLY add a submenu. It can only be done automatically if a title has chapters contained in it. If you want to add a submenu for say, photos or just text - no can do. That is a real weakness which I'm really suprised hasn't changed after 5 versions.

Yeah I know, but I said title levels, a chapter is not a true level, it continues to the next and doesn't stop after playing.

I have used Workshop since the first version. I truly enjoyed it and thought it did a good job for the time. In fact, it was a leader in many aspects. The competition has caught up, and Ulead would gain some 'respect' from me if they let us know where they thought this program was headed. We would know whether to start shopping elsewhere, transition to an enhanced MovieStudio (I think WS2 owners would feel too constrained with the current version), or wait for WS3.

The second problem to solve is the issue of support. I have had hit and miss experiences with Ulead, and I do not know if I want to go through with that again. It took a while for DVDWS2 to become 95% usable, with some bugs still lurking. At least with Adobe (I own some of there other apps) the help is much more attainable (primarily due to a larger user base) and the programs are actively updated (although the update costs can hurt).

Unfortunately, I also own Cool3DPS, which is also languishing. But, at least with that app, I feel it still offers most of what I bought it for. Sure there are some improvements that I would like, but I am not a heavy duty 3D creator - I just want simple 3D animations.

another vote for WS3

I'm doing my part to contribute to the clamor for a new version of DVD Workshop. I love the application. It is simple to use and powerful in its creative control. I think many consumers (like me) would buy it if they tried it and discovered how easy it is to create totally custom menus, with results that always impress my family and friends. I agree, though, that it needs an upgrade. One feature in MF that would really be handy in WS is multi-trim. I hope that I'm not forced to look for another prosumer DVD authoring package. I thought I'd found THE ONE. Attention Ulead: roll out WS3 and market it heavily with free trials. If people try it, they will buy it.
