I am having problems with audio when I save a Video File. When I play back the sample section (preview range) I have selected in VideoStudio everything works fine. However, when I play the MPEG file in Real Media or Windows Media Player the sound is inaudible and is just a high pitch distorted noise.
I have read through the entire post of the Recommended Procedure and tried the different suggestions without success. I have completed the Capture Phase and Edit Phase but am having problems with the Create Video File Phase.
The VideoStudio Project is made up of an MPEG-2 video file (rendered from a VHS player using a Creative Labs Audigy 2 Editor). This file plays fine in VideoStudio and Real Media. I have added sounds (music) from as well as titles etc.
My project settings are :
PAL (25 fps)
MPEG files
24 Bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
Upper Field First
(DVD-PAL), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 7000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 224 kbps
MPEG audio layer 2, 48 KHz, Stereo
I just accepted the "same as project settings" option but have also tried some of the other Save Options but none of these worked.
The only other idea that I had was that the audio files I use are 44KHz but then again so are all the VideoStudio supplied samples.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
thanks,
Nick
Audio Problems Rendering in VideoStudio 8SE

Are these WAV files? I've never had any problems with WAV files (at 44.1kHz or 48kHz). Some users have reported trouble with MP3s. If they are not WAVs, try converting them to WAV before importing them to Video Studio. Are these these iTunes files, or some other format that might have copy protection?...the sound is inaudible and is just a high pitch distorted noise....
I have added sounds (music) from as well as titles etc.

Thanks for the suggestions. I ran some more tests. I tried playing the MPEG-2 file I created from the VHS copy using Real Player. This worked fine - sound was ok.
So I created a new project and loaded just that file (no audio or titles etc.). I then rendered part of it with the same project settings and I still get the high pitch distorted noise.
I find this very puzzling as I haven't edited the file at all and this suggests that the Ulead software is changing the file properties rather than keeping them the same? I guess this rules out the sound recording level idea as the original copy plays ok. And I have stopped using the WAV files.
