Ulead Video Studio 8SE

Post by Lord Alibaski »

(I do apologise if i have put this in the wrong section)

I have just received video studio 8SE from Plextor which was a replacement of some other software that I had compatibility issues with my hard ware.

Now I am having more problem with this software. 1st of all when I go to change the Avi compression to DivX it is only giving me the option of using DivX 5.1.1 when I have version 6.1.1 installed.

Secondly with the other software I had, I had the option to convert DVD files (VOB format) to any other format. Though with video studio 8SE it doesn’t recognize this format anymore why is this??

Can anyone help me in anyway on how to get video studio 8SE to recognize DivX version 6.1.1 and is there anyway of getting 8SE to convert Original DVD VOB format into another quality like DivX.

Thanx for the help in advance.

Thats what i tried m8...but for some reason its not showing 6.1.1 its showing 5.1.1 here look

Image

I was just thinking is it just a problem in Video Studio 8SE as the link you showed me m8 was for Video Studio 9SE.

Another thing i have found a free update for users who have Video Studio 8SE this is a free update to Video Studio 9SE but i don't know if the actual program is in Japanese.

You will find it here
http://www.ulead.co.jp/download/uvs/uvs_08se_plex.htm

if they do a free update for the Japanese does anyone know if they do a free update for other countries??

This is the problem i am having with VOB files.

All i want to do is convert them to DivX....i can convert with DivX converter but the end result seems to lose out in sound quality from the original file with DivX converter...i used to use WinDVD Creator 2 to convert my Vobs it was pretty good @ converting...but for some reason its been going out of Sync with files over 30mins in lengh.

Just to show you that i do have DivX version 6.1.1 installed...i have opened up #1 DVD Rippers settings....

So why does this Software Recognize it and Ulead won't? i have also just uninstalled DivX to see if Ulead will recognize it after a fresh install but it still doesn't.

Well I uninstalled Ulead and DivX….Installed Ulead 1st then installed DivX, I tried it the other way round but the problem still persist. It’s still reading version 5.1.1 in the Ulead Project options.

I've just upgraded to DivX version 6.2.1 and still Ulead only recogizes version 5.1...

Can anyone suggest anything on how to fix this problem.

As far as I was aware, VS8, in any of its forms, could not deal with mpeg-4 files, period. That was supposed to have been one of the new features of VS9. I realise, however, that earlier versions of DivX codecs may show up in VS8 and earlier versions, though I never tried using them when I was using VS8 or 7, so I don't know the answer to this question: if you actually select the DivX 5.1 codec which shows, can you successfully encode a DivX movie using VS8 SE? Otherwise, I would have thought it better/easier to simply download a free program like SUPER which can convert your original files into virtually any other video format...

Now that I've seen the pictures you've pasted it looks to me like you are attempting to open the VOB files from VideoStudio.

This is not the correct method. You have to import the DVD into VideoStudio but as far as I can recall version 8 does not have an import DVD function.

This function is included with Version 9 and above, also in MovieFactory and MediaStudio.

Yes you can import DVD files in VS8. I recently responded to a similar question .

Sorry i took so long to reply Gents....been busy the last few weeks.

anyway i will try some of the tutorials vidoman as put up for me and see how i get on with these.

To Ken..The whole reason why i am askin this is because i had a problem with some other software going out of sync with my Plextor Convert X PX-M402U....

now i asked them for replacement software and it took me 6months to get a copy of video studio 8SE off Plextor. now according to them this is the only software that supports my device (Nero7 does also) but it doesn't give me the same capture options as WinDVD Creator 2 (which i originally got with the device) or the same as Studio 8SE.

This as been an on going 2 year complaint to Plextor about the lack of software for this product, and still no decent software as arrived.

Now if i purchased Video Studio 9SE do you know at all if this version supports the Plextor device? and will it read the latest version of DivX i have.

The other question about using Vob files in Ulead well i used to convert them in WinDVD creator 2 to DivX with added features...this is why i wanted the Ulead software as well. if i want to convert the Vob files to DivX without the features i just use the DivX conveter that comes with the DivX create bundle...which does a very good job.

I'm sorry for babblin on Gents..i'm just a bit miffed off with Plextor for not supplying any decent software for this product, nearly 3 years after its release.

divx 5 / 6 Problem

Post by codeguru »

I have the same problem.... I am using Videostudio8 (full version) and XP SP2. With DivX 5.02 or 5.11 it works fine, with 5.21 I have severe problems: If I am too long in the configuration dialogue of DivX the VS8 just disappears from screen. After carefully setting only one option I could export a movie into a onepass divx file.

Then I installed the Divx6.0 Create where I habe a full version (last year they gave it away for free at the anniversary day of divx.com) but it also doesn't appear in the list of codecs in VS8

So it seems that the problem is coming from some kind of incompatibility of the DivX6 codec with Windows so other programs also may not recognise the divx6 codec or there is somthing other that does not allow for some VS versions to see the divx6 codec.

So I could give the advice to use Divx5.11 or older. The goods are that there is a addware-pro version out that doesn't expire, and the odds are that the coding speed might be 10% slower than in the version 6 of DivX and you don't have the "extra good quality" option that slows down the encoding by another 50%.

According to the fact that this software has a price beound 20$ (and the SE editions are giveaways) )don't expect too much from it or use a more advanced product from the concurrents. I know Ulead software now for more than 8 years, and it never was perfect.
