Ulead supports this software as if it's thier red headed step-child. The amount of time you will spend just tryin to get this program to operate as advertised will cost you more than buying a "real" image editor (you know what I'm talking about). I wanted to try this software, which I can barely do because I'm missing most of the stuff (fonts texture) you name it. I suppose I will recommend that my company stick with *PhotoShop*
I wouldn't want to burden Ulead with more tech support calls, I believe they have all they can handle..
Unbelievable
Do not waste your money.

Firstly What software are you talking about?
Ulead have several and you have posted this in a general forum.
Next, if you would care to complete your system details on your profile page it will assist the users of this forum to try and assist you with you're problem.
You need to tell us the exact nature of your problem.
If you are missing fonts etc, then did you download the extra content for whatever software it is you are referring to?
There are a lot of experienced users of this forum who will be only too happy to try and help you solve your problem if we knew what that problem was.

Software=PhotoImpact 11
Computer=AMD 3000+ 1028 dual channel machted
nVidia 6800 GT
Problems:
Program needs extras downloaded.
Servers are always full or the batch file has the incorrect url (any solutions?) All I've seen is work arounds. I won't pay 90 bucks for work arounds.
Anyways I'm not looking for a specific answer because I've found them already.
The answer I've found is people still putting up with second rate software.
I can't wait for the day when software engineering becomes more like our other engineering fields, this will be a grand day for us all
Thank you.

I´m new to the forum,not to PhotoImpact,though.As for the money issue,it´s well spent.In some aspects I prefer PI to Photoshop.
I´m not also new to forums.That is why I prefer to read before posting.
The batch file thing could be seen here:
It worked for me right away,since I had the same problem.No bad talking or chopping down was needed.Only reading and searching.heinz-oz,Fri Oct 21, 2005 5:47 am Post subject: Possible fixes to PI problems, please try them wrote:Problems with "Smart Download" for extra content for ESD and TBYB versions
In order to get all the extras, like the Component Designer etc., you should download directly from: http://www.ulead.com/pi/esd.htm
and not use the "Smart Download" function.
There could also be an incompatibilty issue with XP SP2, check your firewall settings if you still are unable to download.
Suggestions for improvements?
I like it when things are organized and developers really listen to custommers...not that often in an open board
Had to say it...

This guy just wants to rant on.
