We used a Toshiba DVD-ROM 1912 and Movie Factory 4 worked quite well. Now, we had to change the DVD-ROM to a Plextor PX-130A and now, Movie Factory hangs when we try to start the launcher. The computer is dead (even the CPU usage is near 0) and you even can't shut down the computer. If I disconnet the Plextor drive, Movie Factory starts and works well. If I reconnect the drive, Movie Factory hangs.
What can I do?
Movie Factory 4 does not work with Plextor DVD-ROM PX-130A

Found a short term workaround
We've installed the trial version of the movie factory 5. This version works fine with the Plextor DVD-ROM. V4 seem to use the burning engine of the trial version, because the Movie Factory 4 now works with the Plextor, too.
Therefore, Ulead will hopefully bring the bruning engine of the V5 as update for the V4 (and the DVD Workshop) very soon!

Did you install any software when you installed the Plextor? Some burning software (Nero or Roxio) seems to conflict with Ulead.
In any case, it's good to know that Ulead has fixed the problem (or whatever problem you're having) with MF5. I just hope it doesn't stop working when the trial period runs out!
I wouldn't think so...

If there is any updates for the burning engine, Ulead will announce in http://www.ulead.com/tech/dmf/dmf.htm.
Hope this helps.

Yes, we have installed Nero but that was never a problem before. Indeed we do not use the Ulead Burning Engine and we would be glad, if we could get rid of it (and the used background process). We use only the authoring features.DVDDoug wrote:Did you install any software when you installed the Plextor? Some burning software (Nero or Roxio) seems to conflict with Ulead.
