MovieFactory 5 Installed

Post by maddrummer3301 »

Downloaded the ESD retail version of MF5 and installed.
Price was $50 us dollars. Went the extra 10 dollars for the full retail version and also ordered a backup CD. Maybe the extra content is on it because I couldn't find where to download it from.

At least on my machine it's much better and stable than ALL previous versions of MovieFactory.

I could say what the program does but all that info is posted on the ulead web board.

The only thing I missed was extra content. It was late and maybe I missed the link. Usually it's a separate download. I'll have to contact them. I must have missed a link for the extra content because their aren't many menu selections. You can make menus that fade in or out.
Text menus are simple. Thumbnails can also be rotated and editing text is much easier using the mouse. You can highllight & paste etc.

One nice feature I ran across was in the Direct to Disk mode you can "pause" the recording. This is a nice feature when capturing analog footage from VHS etc. You can goto the clips you want to record and still maintain one mpeg2 file. Then break that into chapters etc.

You don't have to burn the dvd either. After capturing you can select "NO" and exit the program. I had to Move the mpeg2 file first before exiting the program or it would be deleted. In the burning module before actually burning the dvd I would hit the cancel button. The program immediately stopped and brought me back to the burning module where I could go back and "De-Select" motion menus or make changes.

So far at least on my machine the program is NICE.
Anyone not using MF4 and still on MF3 I would simply purchase the Full ESD or Retail package.
The opening laucher screen comes up much faster and is much more easier to navigate as to what you want to perform.

Download was approx 213 megabytes. On my system in the US it took about 10 or 12 minutes.

If you purchase the full ESD you are assigned a serial number that must be entered in order to install MovieFactory 5. The program extracts to a directory of your choice. It isn't erased so one can extract the files to a directory and burn a CD for installatiion. You can also install from the extracted directory.

If you are having trouble importing dvd's in the +VR mode (DVD+RW) MF5 is using updated files to do this and it's now working.

I'm very happy with the new MovieFactory 5 :) :)

Anyone know where the extra content is?
I missed it somewheres in the download section.

I just purchased the upgrade to Movie Factory 5 from Elements 5 and got a link for the program and the extra content. I download and installed both. Am very happy with results so far.

Ulead has changed the way to upgrade, when I installed MF5 it asked for license number, which I input, then I was asked to input old license number (previous version MF3) which I input. The installed continued without looking for a disk for the old software.

I think they finally got smart about their upgrades.

I am currently downloading the upgrade, there was a link to the extra content. Both appear to be dowloading OK.
With my 5% discount voucher I got an extra 75 pence off!! so its only cost me a massive £14.24 (GBP)

I have also checked and found that if you re-run the installer it has the "Repair option" (Download ESD version)
