How to remove text in video

Post by bjornhal »

Video Studio 6.0 SE

The program have worked perfectly until recently, and I have the following Problem:
-When I Load a video into the program a grey text is automatically added.
-The text says "PIC Video" on top of the window and "www.jpg.com" on the bottom.
-This text have never been there before, and I can't find any way to remove it.
-I also tried to Finish a video to see if it dissapeard, but i didn't.
-The text is not in the "Title track", it's just in some way popped into the video... Wierd!

What shall I do to get rid of this grey text? Please help me. I'm desperate!

Hi Bjornhal, welcome to the forums..:)

What is the source of your video, camcorder, downloaded from the web, VHS, DVD? It would seem that the video has a logo overlayed onto to it.

To remove that you need a specialty program like this one:

The video comes directly from my Camera, and I can view the files in the mediaplayer and on the camera, whitout the text appearing.... So It must be the Program (Ulead Videostudio) that is adding the text. I have searched the menus without luck.

I have used the program earlier with the same type files from the same camera and have never seen the text before...

I've never used VS6 so I'm not sure, but in all that I have and do use, the only way for text to appear, is on the Title track. It does not allow text to be placed on any other track.

Since you are using VS6SE, (SEs are Simple Editions) are generally free, and it must have come with some sort of hardware, like a camcorder or capture device. Since Ulead is now getting ready to release Video Studio 10 Plus, you must have aquired that some time ago. When was the last time that you used it, where the text did not appear on your video?

Did you check your camcorder and see if you had applied a text with it? Most camcorders have the titling ability. If a title is applied to the video using the camcorder, then using the above program would be the only way to remove it, after it is imported to your computer. If the text has been applied using the camcorder, go back to the camcorder, disable it, and then capture the video again.

Final question; Does this happen on any video? Have you tried different videos to see if it does? Have you tried using another computer that does not have VS6? Do you have Window Movie Maker, or another capture/editing program, where you can check to see if the title is still there?

Also in addition to Ron's comments. Have you downloaded and installed any programs recently that would contain video codecs?
Any "All the video/audio codecs you will ever need" type of thing?
The words you are seeing are from a company called Pegasus and they have a MJPEG codec called Picvideo. www.jpg.com is their site.

lancecarr is absolutely correct. It is not a Ulead problem, but a codec problem. Your best bet is to uninstall the picvideo codec. Or, you might just select a different codec that is available on your computer.
