Importing DVD

Post by rendez2k »

I have a DVD-R with 4 TV programs which I'd like to import and create a new menu for. When I import the DVD, the size bar goes well into the red. If I select the 'don't re-encode compliant files' option, will the source files always be left as they are? Also, whats the built in MPEG encoder like? I'm wondering if I should re-enocde some NTSC files to PAL.

Last question first.
There is no need to change from NTSC to PAL or vice versa as modern DVD players will accept both formats.

As for the file size issue you need to alter your project settings so that the imported files will fit. for a list of settings please view:

Most PAL dvd players can play NTSC DVD's (so the OP should be all set), but unfortunately the reverse is NOT true. So if you have a PAL source, and want to play it on NTSC DVD Players, you would have to convert it -- of course there are a handful of NTSC DVD Players that can play PAL DVD's (but the majority will not).
