Here's my problem, as soon as I click on the 'Capture' tab, I get a windows error:
Program Error
"vstudio.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program."
An error log is being created.
I've also tried installing the latest vs8 patch. When I try to install, I get:
"Installer cannot find Ulead VideoStudio 8 on your machine. Please install Ulead VideoStudio 8 first"
Here's my configuration:
2.8GHz
200GB hdd
1024MB memory
Plextor PX-M402U video converter
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum Sound Card
dual monitors driven by:
NVIDIA GeForce2 MX
and NVidia Riva TNT2 Model 64
LITE-ON DVDRW LDW-851S
Windows 2000, completely patched
When I first installed VS8, I was having this problem among others. I did have InterVideo WinDVD Creator 2 installed and I could capture using it. I finally decided to reformat and reinstall everything from scratch, which I did, other problems I was having are now gone, but I still can't capture in vs8.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Liam,
Video Studio support for analog capture cards has been somewhere between bad and nonexistant. Did your Plextor PX-M402U come with any capture software? If so, try capturing to mpeg2 with that and then edit with Video Studio.
Also, the Plextor PX-M402U uses a USB2 connection to the computer. Make sure that your computer's USB ports are USB2 because USB1 can't hack video capture thruput.
Your update install problems can be caused by many things: Trial versions can't be updated, there were problems if VS8 was not installed on C drive, etc. I suggest you search the old forum for help with this one.
