I am trying to use the audio fade in/out feature of MF5. I'm able to get a fade in, but I can't seem to get a fade out. Perhaps I'm not using the buttons correctly. Here's what I'm doing:
I have a 3 minute audio clip. I use the start and end icons to select 23 seconds of the clip to use as an audio track for a menu. I then set the cursor (or whatever you call the arrow that shows you where you are in the music track) at the beginning of the 23 second clip and then press the fade in button. My preferences are set for a 3 second fade in. This seems to be implemented when I run the project in the Preview mode. I essentially do the same thing for the fade out. I move the cursor to the end of the 23 second clip and then I press the fade out button. However, the music just ends abruptly in the Preview mode and there's no fade out. I also tried setting the cursor at a point 3 seconds before the end of the clip and then pressing the fade out button, but this didn't have any effect either.
So how do you use the fade in /out buttons, as I'm clearly not doing it correctly? Also, it's not clear to me how you would cancel a fade in/out effect should you decide you don't want it. I'd like to know how to do this as well.
Thanks, Robert

It's been 4 days since I posted this inquiry and my basic questions are still unanswered. They were:
How do you use the fade-in/out buttons, as I'm clearly not doing it correctly? Also, it's not clear to me how you would cancel a fade-in/out effect should you decide you don't want it.
Thanks for any assistance. Robert

Fade-out (setting lost after Customize), and more menu bugs
Hi Robert,
First a warning... it's broken, at least in the 5.0 trial.
Whenever you choose to "Customize" the menu, the audio trim setting is lost and the whole audio clip is selected once again when you come back. So do it last...
Bring the upper cursor to the start position and click "[" to set Mark-in.
Do the same for the end (you can use the time counter on the right), and set Mark-out "]".
Now enable the fade-in and/or fade-out buttons. They remain highlighted if active (pushed in). If you press the button again, it disables.
Use the same length for the audio as for the motion menu for best results.
Another bug:
The Menu-out transition MO_03 (and probably others) is broken: it previews OK but it doesn't render the clip in the SmartScene menu, and does 2 background fades in the final output instead.
Another bug:
Objects that I hide (for example Home button in a SmartScene menu) suddenly appear (highlighted) when using the arrow buttons of a DVD player. If they're hidden, they should be inactive!
I don't believe 5.0 was tested enough before release.
