VidoMan, can you tell us if Video Studio 10+ will be able to export back out to HDV tape?

Can VS10 start up other than Screen Resolution 1024x768?

Post by JBRichter »

I just recently installed a video card supporting the 16x9 format at 1280 by 720. It would be nice if VS10 allowed to be in other resolutions other than 1024x768 to run it.

Any changes in that direction?

If you check again you will find your video card will also do 1280x768
I just opened Video Studio 9 with no problems at that resolution.

VS10 out there already?

Post by ashmont »

EDITED to remove reference to illegal copies of VideoStudio 10.

Presumably it will be beta code but its a worry if it somehow slipped out of the net.

Thank you for alerting us to this I have passed it onto to Ulead. I wouldn't have thought many beta copies would have been in circulation just yet so hopefully whoever leaked it can be traced.
I would think even the beta versions must need a serial number so I would suspect that there is a record somewhere of whom the serial number(s) were issued to.
Plus a note to anyone thinking of downloading one.... I bet the first service pack/update includes a zap.

Lets hope not Steve - ULead have proved themselves incapable of getting simple things that don't relate to video editting correct! If they do try and include a "zap" then I'm sure this board will receive a regular set of postings from legitimate buyers indicating their copy has been creamed - and asking what happened to it because tech support can't help them? :-)

I just wished ULead would stick to the video editting software and hire somebody who knows their business for stuff like the so called Smart Download - stuff like this has been around for years, it's not like it is trial blazing stuff and ULead can't get it right in (any of - well, any that I own at least!) their products.

Yes Ulead is aware of this. Last week I read on HTChien's blog about the fraud version of VS10 being offered. I don't know how they are going to handle it. I know there were only 13 beta testers of VS10 (according to the forum). However I don't believe anyone would have released it, as much I would think that someone found an open door to Ulead's FTP site...

There is only one intelligent way out Ron :-) That is for ULead to include the planned functionality for VS 11 into the VS 10 release i.e. skip 10 altogether - that way the people who have pirated the VS 10 Beta will still be behind the latest version and hopefully inclined to buy the upgrade :-)

But seriously, I doubt that it matters - pirated copies of current and earlier versions are probably floating around as well. The differences between versions are usually (relatively) small i.e. many people are quite happy to stay with their current version until the desire for the one or two "new" features make it "imperative" to upgrade (of course, if ULead actually fixed some of the more persistent problems that seem to have been present in 8 & 9 then they might have a more active takeup of the next release!). You also get the "tech head" (such as myself :-)) who can't resist getting the latest and greatest - "just in case" :-)

My last upgrade was to Version 8, the real thing that I wanted from Version 9 was text menus which I understand were not incorporated in that release. If this is in fact the case, are text menus now available in Version 10 ?

VS10 Plus

Post by M@onVideo »

Hi,

I'm new. Been using VS9 since its release and keen to get 10+.

Is the naming just to compete with the competition (i.e. Pinnacle Studio 10) ?? (or have I just repeated someone else's comments?).

Anyway, any idea when this is going to hit the UK?

Cheers,
Matt.

Vidoman,

When you said earlier that VS10+ will support Windows MCE, do you mean that it will be able to directly import/edit dvr-ms files that MCE records? I hope the answer is yes. Several other products already do it, like Intervideo WinDVD creator. But they don't match the power and useablility of VS.

I guess I'm just picky. 1280 x 768 leaves black bars at the ;eft and right edges on my projector. It seems to me that Ulead would match any given standard in today's video card market. I'll live. I'm still going to upgrade from VS9 to 10 anyway.

I don't have a widescreen monitor but wouldn't it make sense for VS to support any resolution that adheres to 4:3 or 16:9? I was under the assumption that it did. Is this a false assumption?
