Video Studio 10 Plus

Post by Ron P. »

First let me state that Ulead has authorized me to disclose and talk about the soon to be released Video Studio 10 Plus. However no screen shots are allowed yet.

What I will touch on is some of the features that are not available in VS9.

HD Editing with Smart Proxy.
You will be able to use Smart Proxy editing just like MSP 8. This will make editing HD content as easy as HD even on mid-range machines.

Pure HD Authoring & Output
You will be able to produce Blue-ray and HD DVD discs, create WMV-HD, MPEG-2 HD, and MPEG4 HD, to playback on devices such as the Xbox 360.

Pure HD Upscaler
High quality upsampling of SD video for use in high-definition projects.

6 Overlay tracks.
That's right, Video Studio 10 Plus will have the capabilty of 6 overlay tracks, that's' a total of 7 video tracks.

Enhanced Multi-Trim Editor that includes Ad-Zapper to automatically detect commercials in TV programs, for easy removal. AccuCut Editing with Timeline Zoom lets you find any frame for trimming it , even in long clips.

Anti-Shake Filter
Yes they did it, they added an Anti-Shake filter, that if I may say so, rivals those that cost about $80. I know this first hand. I have done a comparison of a competitor's filter, that I purchased for about $80 , and in my opinion the Ulead Anti-Shake beat it.

Audio Enhancements
Pitch Shift filter raises or lowers the key of the audio clips without altering the length.

Auto-Rotate will automatically rotate digital camera photos to insure slideshow photos are presented correctly.

Divx and MPEG4 support.
You will be able to output ttemplates for creating video for iPods, PSPs, Smartphones, PDA's and other devices. You can import and export DivX with the appropriate codec.

It is also suppose allow you to use your remote control on Windows Media Center PC's to capture video and burn DVD's.

That should be enough for you process right now...

It is soon to be released, so stay tuned....

Why is it called Plus- just name change? Will there be also non-Plus version?
Any new language versions?
Referring to DivX and MPEG-4 you mean native support as opposed to MPEG-4 plugin and separate DivX codec now?

1. The Plus is a name change, no Non-Plus that I'm aware of.

2. New language? Are you refering to languages that are not already available?

3. Yes it will have MPEG-4 support, however the DivX codec will still be needed.

Sorry I didn't include that in my post above, Yes it is included with this version. However until it's fully released I'll reserve further comment. MSP8 also has Dolby 5.1, however is not functioning as advertised....

Nice to see the 6 overlay tracks, now that should really please everyone and make this a vastly improved piece of kit. I'm already looking forward to the pricing announcement.

I'm not into HD at his time. Probably another 2 years away.

The other features will surely add to our creativeness.

Additional overlay tracks are a big plus.

Looking forward to upgrading in the very near future.

Thanks for the info............ :D

If Version 10 does nothing else, it should fix the user interface bugs that lead new users directly into the DVD BURNING traps that make the Recommended Procedure so neccessary.

1. Disable Share/Create Disk button if anything is in the timeline.
2. Permanently disable Add Project button in Burn module.
3. Straighten out the Default Properties/Preferences train wreck.
4. Stop jerking the Library display around when users mouse on clips in the timeline.
5. etc.

If the new VS10+ is anything like Movie Factory 5 then it should be an outstanding product.

So far MF5 can use any capture device I have in my computer, Firewire, AIW, Hauppauge PVR-250, DVICO HD TV capture and HDR-HC1 High Definition video camera. Already captured video from all the sources and am very pleased with results.

As far as I can tell Ulead has done their home work on this product.

I will do some more work with it and will report back in the MF section.

I hope they fix the bugs in VS9 first. Particularly "Fit and Burn" that on ULeads admission does not work. I have only recently bought VS9 and whilst I like the ease of capture and editing I have big issues with the "sharing" part of this s/w and use third party (mainly freeware!) packages to circumvent these shortcomings. I am recently retired and this is only the second package of "domestic" software I have bought. By the standards I expected in my professional environment this software is atrocious, has appalling help files, a dreadful manual, and seems to rely on this forum for users to generate work arounds. Without this forum I would by now have returned this package to the retailer for a full refund!
