HDTV 16:9 Caps being authorized as 4:3 -) Stretches picture

Post by wishfulthinker »

Hey everyone.

I've got a number of HDTV TV Caps which I encoded into Xvid. When I import then in Movie Factory they play fine, just the way I want them to (16:9 bars visible on a 4:3 screen). However, once I burn them to DVD and pop them in my PC or DVD Player the black bars are no longer visible and the 16:9 image has stretched to a 4:3 image which distorts the whole picture. I've tried multiple things including changing the aspect ratio in MF from 4:3 to 16:9 and nothing has worked. I've searched the first 12 pages of the forums and couldn't find a solution. If someone could please help, I'd be very thankful. Thanks everyone.

If you right-click on the original video and select "Media Properties".
Post the properties of the video back to this post.

You may need to export the video first as a compliant 16:9 file.
Then load it back in.
