Smartsound Quicktracks How to use?

Post by antzpompeii »

Good-evening all,,,,

Hoping someone can shed some light into this....

I've completed my movie in VS8 and need to add music to it.... except i have an mp3 file which i would like it to loop.

I have no idea on how to use Smartsound Quicktracks - but is this what i need to achieve music to loop?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

The smartsound quicktracks in VideoStudio are intended to add music to your video and can be found by clicking the audio tab then the auto music tab.

Select one of the pieces of music and preview it by pressing the play selected music button.

Autotrim will make it fit the exact length of your video from the currently selected point on the time line to the end.

You can adjust the length in a few ways.
1. Complete the duration box immediately below the tab at the top left of the screen.
2. With the music on the timeline move your mouse over to one of the edges and click-drag to the required length.
3. Move the playhead to where you want it to start/stop and cut with the scissors.

If you are hoping to use smartsound in perhaps the DVD menu as the background sound then you have to cheat a little by using the timeline and generating a section of smartsound to the length you require and then export the soundtrack as a WAV file.

Hi Antz

Smart Sound Quicktracks is a different and separate audio process to using your own audio files.

If you select the Audio tab at the top, then select the Auto Music tab from the left panel, the Full Spectrum library should appear in the left panel.
There should be about 24 Music clips.
You can change the ‘variation’ for each one.

Select one of the music clips and ‘Play selected music’.

‘Add to timeline’ the length of the audio can be altered using the digital clock at the top of the panel, or dragging the yellow trim bars at each end of the audio clip.
If you use the ‘Auto Trim’ the clip will fit to the project length.

The music will loop automatically fading out at the end.
Gets a bit repetitious with long clips, but is very good, have a play about with the various options.

Read the VS help files by pressing F1 for more info, search for smartsound.

Using your own audio files.

First of all you are best using *.wav files.

Mp3 files have caused some problems in the past.
I have found that Mp3 work better if you keep the compression to 192 or below.

Adding your audio files to the timeline, I use both tracks, music and voice, then I can overlay the tracks and use fade in / out.
You can reduce the length by using the yellow trim bars.

By using the same audio clip again you should me able to loop your sound, but is not automatic, you have to do it manually.

Good luck
Hope this Helps

Thank-you both for replying.

Except i need to add a piece of music to my timeline that continuously loops to the end of my video. Quicktracks don't have the piece of music i intend to use.

When i add my piece of music to the timeline it finishes at 3:00 and i need it to go to the end of my video and it won't allow me to do this.

So how do i go about this? any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Antz,

Just add it again, after the first one. That's what Trevor advised about doing it manually. Just keep adding your audio clip, until it fills up what you need. You can shorten the duration if at the end, the last clip is too long. I would then do a fade-out, so it doesn't sound funny ending abruptly..

Thanks Vidoman - that really simplifies things. Will be doing it right now.

Once again thank-you.

Hi again

You can reduce the length by using the yellow trim bars.

That way you should be able to blend your ending to the next start.
