Matrox Compatability with VS

Firstly I would like to thank those good people who provided me with assistance and suggestions re my last posts about my problem. I have tried all the suggestions but as yet have not found the answer as to why the capture, either from video or still grabs, remain mottled. The video displays perfect in the viewing screen but when capture is initiated the result is a mottled blur. It is very frustrating as either VS 6 or VS 7 worked great before I installed Windows XP Pro. My capture device is a Matrox Marvel G450etv and I am beginning to think that this device is somehow not compatable with Uleads. Could this device be the root cause of my problems and if it is what capture device with VHS "in" capability would you recommend? I have downloaded the trial version of VS 9 but still have the same capture problems. It pains me to admit it, but everything works fine in Pinnacles Studio, all versions. I do however like the Uleads program especially for capturing still shots from old VHS tapes when the kids were little.

Are you de-interlacing the picture when capturing it?
