Converting Video Editing Title... what does that mean?

Post by Yohon »

I am using a third party program to convert files to MPEG. The program I am using converts to DVD compatible MPEG, I am sure of that. When I use DVDMF to make a DVD it takes forever to Convert Video Editing Title. If the MPEGs are already DVD ready, why does MovieFactory take so long to render them? Is this just a formality of creating viewable DVDs? It seems that the conversion process would be almost instant. What are the parameters for MPEGS to speed this up. My converter uses DVD resolution, DVD bitrates, DVD audio... what gives?

If your MPEG files are already DVD compliant then Movie Factory should not need to convert them. Make sure you have clicked the small cog wheel at the lower left of the screen and checked the setting
do not render compliant file is checked.

You will still see "Convert Video Editing Title" because you now are creating a DVD. This DVD has one or more menus. Those menus are in fact also mpeg files. The way DVD Menus work in a nutshell is superimposed upon those MPEG Menu files are hotspots which just happen to be the same shape and size of the various buttons etc on your menu.

Whenever you move your mouse over these hotspots (or navigate using a remote control etc.) things happen to those hotspots such as changing colour or causing another hotspot to react in some way.

The DVD menu also contains program code so that things happen when you select one of these hotspots such as causing another video to run.
