Is there a Fix for crshing mp3 audio?

Everytime I try to insert an MP3 track while editing; VS7 crashes. I recently upgraded to VS9 and the same thing is happening. I can get around it by converting to .wav format. Anyone else have this problem? Any solutions?

This problem has come up a number of times before and you already have the workaround...convert to wav.
It seems to happen more often when users have been using the lame MP3 codec rather than the original Fraunhofer (Did I get that right?)codec.

I suspect that it doesn't have anything to do with VS - 7 or 9.

The reason I say this is I can import an mp3 file without crashing VS 9 on my computer. This coupled with the fact that it happens with both your VS 7 and VS 9 would tend to suggest that it is some problem in your particular system rather than with VS.
