Adding Voice Recordings

Post by tsimpson »

Hi! I have been doing videos for a couple of years but used music voiceovers exclusively. How do I go about adding my voice to these videos and can I keep the music as well as a voiceover? Many thanks for any responses to my inquiries as I would like to do this if possible for a business video I am completing by Friday, March 17th...that is, if I can master it in time!

Yes you can certainly add narration and still keep your background music AND the original soundtrack as well - UNfortunately you haven't told us which version your using but in later versions you can then vary the volume of all 3 sound tracks individually to create a balanced sound track.

You obviously need a microphone connected to the correct input on your PC and have windows set up to allow you to use it - then basically just click on the 'Audio' tab and choose the 'Record Voice' icon down the left side of the preview screen and then follow the prompts.

Alternatively several of us prefer to use an independant sound recording programme to create .wav files which you just import into the narration track (the one with the microphone) exactly as you have done with your music files

A single track is best for voiceovers because it gives you control over the pacing and volume of the narration and music. (if your program allows)

Computer recording is the optimum way to get a VO. But, I have heard of people using their cameras to record a VO to get it on the timeline.

Brian voice overs

I can record my voice over fine . What i am having trouble with is lowering the sound on the video (loud wind noise etc) in the area where i am putting my voice over. is there a tutorial out there somewhere showing how to do this for people with not much technical knowhow.
the help with the program is not very comprehensive.

do you mean you just want to lower or eliminate the wind noise only and still hear some of the sound with the video - or is the wind the only sound on the video and you want to silence that.
