Problem with Auto Add Chapters, Insert Scenes as Chapters

Post by teocuitlatl »

I am doing something I think in the same way that I have done it successfully more than a dozen times before. Using the recommended procedure, I have created a video file with perhaps 23 chapters in it (it is a track meet with events). The only difference may be that the first four scenes are quite short--5 to 10 second each--the long jump),

When I prepare to burn the viedo to disk, I ask it to make chapters through Auto Add Chapters. The option "Insert scenes as chapters" is grayed out. It has never been grayed out before and I have always used it successfully. Have a changed a setting or property or???

Thanks.

Hi Teocuitlatl,

The insert scenes is grayed out because there are no scenes to insert. The scenes would be the ones that VS detected in a Split by Scene scan.

Don't know how to evaulate this reply. I was able to insert all 23 scenes manually. It took a few minutes...

Sorry,
I misread your post..,

I have been going back through VS and trying to find where VS would have that option grayed out. My clips all have numerous scenes in them, and the option is not grayed out. I even tried using an DV-AVI to see if perhaps just having one scene would cause that option to not be available, but it still is.

Maybe my VS is buggy and it shouldn't be available when there is only 1 scene????

I'll keep looking at this, but I can't explain why your's is grayed out and mine not...
