Now when capturing analog video via digital camcorder the movie file is MPG (not AVI as was before) and movie cannot be longer then time indicated in INFORMATION section. Currently the information there is 3:43 and after 3 min 43 seconds the capture process stops. Please advise.

Hi Chernym,
Ok please complete your system information in your profile, it will help us in future questions, and maybe even this one.
You stated that you upgraded for Version 8, did you upgrade to Version 8 or from 8 to 9? In other words, what is the version you are working with?
How is your camcorder connected to your computer, Firewire (Sony calls it iLink) IEE1394, or a USB cable? If it is firewire, then you should be able to capture to DV-AVI, if your camcorder supports pass-through conversion.
In the Capture Tab, on the Left you should see Duration, Source, and Format. There is a drop-down arrow beside the Source. It probably is showing MPEG now. Just click the drop-down arrow and select DV.
Unless you have entered a duration amount into the Duration time boxes, then there should not be any set duration to capture. VS should capture until your tape ends, or there is 13 seconds of blank data (no video or audio), or you tell it to stop. If the 3:43 is showing in the duration, just set them to zeros, by clicking the numbers to highlight them and entering 0, or using the arrows to the right.

I installed version 8, then I downloaded the upgrade from the site, I believe it was for dvd16x burning. Before that I had no limits how long my movie files could be captured. Now in the information section below the screen with the movie it says a specific time, for example 10:44. When the movie reaches that time it stops capturing. I am not sure where I can set it. The duration in the top left corner is set to 0. Please advise
