Can I create the top menu out of smaller clips ?

I searched the forum but could not find an answer to this question.
Can I simply add a video file to the project, split it into smaller clips and make a top menu out of them without having to create a separate video file for each clip? I am using v8

NO - if you want them to appear as seperate thumbnails in the top menu you must create seperate video files and import them to the "Create Disc" module as individual files.

The only other option available to you is to upgrade to Version 9 then you would not need to split your video but would put it straight into the "Create disc" module - then create a chapter menu . you would then suppress the top menu by unchecking "Add Title Menu" under the 'Advanced' button under the preview screen in the create disc module - but you can't do that in V8.

Here is the problem: after I go to "Share" tab and add videos or even project I then need to create top menu and chapters. However I can't find a way to save that setup containg chapter and menus into a file. Please advise

It will save if you just close the 'Create Disc' module and then save your project.
