PI 11 - I have binned it!

Post by alan wells »

Dear all,

I have always worked on the priciple that I should always use the latest version of software and as a happy user of PI XL, I upgraded to PI 11 - big mistake!

A happy user of PI XL, I will remain and I have binned my PI 11 and manual. Not pleased to make this decision but sad to say that I certainly won't be buying any more ULead software.

You haven't said why.

Yes! You didn't state why!

On the assumption you upgraded over your previous version. I personally would suggest you do not do this.

Instead, uninstall PIXL and then Install PI11, you will find you will have fewer difficulties.

Do not unintsall if you do not have a PIXL install disc as proof of purchase.

Dear All,

I have PI 11 on a separate folder from PI XL, both installed on the same machine.

I use PI as a "feeder" program for manipulating photographs for my video editing softaware, Avid Liquid. When using AL, I leave PI "open" so that I can move between the two programs.

I recently received notification of a software patch for PI 11 which I installed but there was no mention that the ESDN problem had been solved.

I tried using PI 11, after the patch, with AL and I have had several problems, the ESDN text problem, when switching between the two packages I have had a stop error asking if I want to notify Microsoft of the problem (I am sure you know the screen), initialisation errors, etc.

Given that there is a learning curve between PI XL and PI 11, I am not prepared to invest time in a program that is, for me, more than flakey!!

Whilst I write, isn't it about time that forum board was updated viz. Sticky Possible fixes ... last update Oct05, Sticky Possible fixes .. last update Jan06, no mention of the patch, truly a professional performance for a professional graphics package. (Irony)

Alan

I hear your pain.

There are those who have multiple occurances of PI on the same machine without incident, I have never had that success. My XL is on the Intel, and my PI11 on the AMD. As you say they sometimes do not mix on some systems.
