No sound from mpeg video with DD audio

Post by tavideos »

When I create a mpeg file in MediaStudioPro 8, which has Dolby Digital 2.0/Stereo, the audio doesn’t play in WS2 Express, but it's ok on the burned dvd. When I create a video file using MPEG or LPCM audio, the audio can be heard in WS. This happens for the menu's or the main video. I have all the updates installed.

Is there a setting I'm not seeing?
Is DD/AC3 included with Express?

Thanks,
Tim

The full version has it, the trial doesn't. (I think Dolby doesn't allow any free use of their technology.

I don't actually recall if I've ever imported a file with AC3 into Workshop, but I have feed it videos with LPCM, or MPEG-2 audio. Sometimes I edit the audio with an audio editor, and I use a separate WAV file. I've never had any problems letting Workshop do the AC3 encoding.

I saw the same thing with MPEG-2 / 2Ch AC-3 in WS2.

I use MSP8 to edit video and use TMPGEnc for MPEG-2 compression.

WS2 worked fine with MSP7 + TMEGEnc. I think it is the MSP8 that causes the problem.
