PLEASE...Need help with capture, Software Problem?

Post by spector1jj »

I first installed the software that was included with the Digital Camcorder I purchased, (ULead 7.0 and a CD with Direct X and 2 Samsung Video Driver's). After installation, I tried to capture my video, but as soon as I plugged my camcorder in, Sonic MY DVD came up and tried to load. Sonic was installed when my PC was purchased. I figured that there was a conflict so I tried to delete Sonic. Now...Sonic is partially deleted, I can't find where the rest is hiding. When I try to capture with ULead, I get an error stating that there is no device connected. But there really is! PLEASE HELP... :?

Hi Spector,

You say that you Deleted Sonic MyDvd? I hope you mean that you Uninstalled. You shouldn't delete any programs or parts of them before going to Control Panel-->Add/Remove Programs.

If you did delete and not uninstall, then I guess try to re-install Sonic. Then try uninstalling it. Then after using Add and Remove Programs you might delete any folders left over.
However I have Sonic Record Now, that came with my pc, and it doesn't pose a problem, not saying that it shouldn't for you.

When you connect your camcorder, do you get the acknowledgement sound from Windows? You know the sound when you connect a device to your computer? Then also go to My Computer and see if your camcorder is showing. It would appear like a harddrive, and generally has the name of your camcorder. If not then windows is not recoginzing your device, so Video Studio will not see it.

Shut off your camcorder, close Video Studio. Then turn on your camcorder, place it in the VCR/Playback mode. Then launch Video Studio, and go to the Capture tab. Does VS see the camcorder now? This is of course depending on if Windows recognized it.
