gif animator speed problem
Hey guys, I have a problem with the animation speed. I've searched the board before posting but no answers have worked so far.The clip is roughly I'd say around 6 seconds. When its played in the program, it plays the speed I would like (delay-0.5 secs). But, when I save it as a gif, it comes out much slower..I thought maybe it was the delay speed, so I set it to 0. Of course the clip looked like it was it fast foreward..and it was still the same slow speed when i processed it........is there a particular option? I've tried cutting the frames down alot...even to 1-2 seconds and it still goes slow motion I've tried the gif on a few other computers as well, just to make sure it wasnt my computer...and still the same thing.... :shock:just for kicks I tried playing it in different browsers, because some work better then others...and it was the same speed...... if i'm missing something....please let me know...

GIF Animator 5 posts should go in the Web Utilities board, further down the list... Maybe that's why you couldn't find an answer.
When you view it in GA 5, are you using the Preview Tab in the workspace, or just using the little play button in the Frame Panel? You can't judge the speed by that play button. That is not accurate at all. The Preview Tab or the Browser Preview buttons are better.
How many frames is the animation, and what is the size, both in Kb and pixel area? What optimization settings did you use when you saved? What did you use for Frame Removal Method?
Firefox and Netscape like to play some animations fast, while IE and Opera tend to be slower.
You may also want to empty your Temporary Internet Files folder. Sometimes things go slowly when it's full, believe it or not...

yes, i saw that after. My bad. I am indeed using the preview panel to view my speed
Frame wise its 150. I dont know if that is considered high or not though. Pixel side is 90x68 and the size overall is faily high, at around 500kb. I've tried making the size even smaller, to compress the size more, but still no luck.
The optimization settings are default mate.
I dont believe its the browser, as the gif is playing just as slow on my computer.
thanks for the reply

500 Kb and 150 frames would be considered quite huge for a gif. That can tend to choke some browsers.
I generally go with a frame delay of 10 (10/100 or 1/10 of a second) which works on most gifs I make. You could try that out.
It sounds like you made that gif from a video file. Have you removed all the frames that are identical? That will help out some. No need to have two or more frames that are the same.
On the Optimization panel, you may want to try Photo 128 colors or less. That will help reduce the file size. Default is "Photo 256."
Each PC is different, too. I've an animation that plays just fine on mine, but when viewed on another with the same processor, same OS, same browser, but inferior video card, it slows down as the animation progresses. Go figure...
