MF4 Trial Version

Post by John O. »

I am using VS7 SE (came with my capture card). I have also downloaded Movie Factory 4 trial version, looking for a simpler to use program, but it seems to fall short in a couple of areas.

In VS7 I can create and insert black, white, or colored clips with titles. In MF4 it seems that I can only insert titles as overlays on existing video clips, or am I missing something?

Also, I like to use a lot of transitions - usually simple fades - between clips and scenes, but find this a very tedious process in MF4 compared to VS7, by toggling through the entire project. Again, am I missing something here?

VS is a video editor, that's why you can do what say, MF is a DVD authoring program, used to put your video to DVD. Whilst it has limited editing capabilities, it is not an editor.

Not an Editor yet.
Ulead announced yesterday that at the end of March 2006 Movie Factory 5 will be released.
The gap between the two products appears to be closing.

movie factory 4se how to uninstall

Post by mistybear »

I actually paid for Movie Factory 4 SE, but only the CD + CD Key only.
Now we wish to uninstall it, but have been unable to figure out how to do that.
Could somebody please advise.

You are right of course, although Ulead loudly touts its editing capabilities. I asked because I sometimes miss options in new programs simply because I do not understand some of the menu names used. LOL!

It will be interesting to see if they add the couple of editing capabilities I miss. If so, I may buy, as I like the simplicity of the program - enough for a lukewarm home video producer like myself (I am much more into still photography).

Does the CD have an uninstall program? If not, you should be able to uninstall using that option in the Control Panel. Even after that, you may still find folders and files left on your hard drive, which you have to delete manually. Doing that, you may find that most or all are classified as "read only", in which case you have to manually declassify them.

Finally, I use a program such as System Mechanic to find and delete leftover invalid entries in the System Registry. Software manufacturers seem to resent you deleting their programs!
