Utilizing Ulead/WinTV150 to record shows on DVR

Post by Izetta14 »

I'm relatively new at this: I have a compaq presario sr1520nx with 1/2 gig of memory and 130 gigs of free space and a double layer dvd recorder running with windows xp (s2). I have a dishtv dvr 522 which I'm sending back for an upgrade but I want to rip from the dvr's harddrive to disk, several shows I've recorded there. Can I do that, and, if I can how do I do it with my WinTV-PVR 150 and Ulead movie factory 3+?

You can probably do with your PVR-150, but this will be an analog recording (actually, digital-to-analog-to-digital). So, I'd only do that if you can't get a digital connection between the DVR and you computer. You'll probably get better results with the WinTV 2000 capture software, than with Movie Factory. (Once you have a file on your computer's, you can make a DVD with Movie Factory.)

I don't know anything about the dish-DVR.

Some people have had difficulties with the Digital Video Broadcast MPEGs It might have something to do with the MPEG-transport-stream vs MPEG-program-stream. A lso the DVB bitrate and resolution are not DVD compatible, so the video has to be re-coded.
