Cannot open Projects - File Format Mismatch

Post by willydeluxe »

The "ask before inserting clips" box is checked. It doesn't ask me when I insert so I presume the format is the same. I've done three bits of work (source files all the same source - and the question question never came up) and saved them as Projects. Now I can't open them: format mismatch.

Does this mean that VS9 doesn't always ask or that I have to check it every time?

How come it allowed me to create a mismatched project? Isn't that a bit - well, silly?

Is there anything I can do to open the projects?

And an interesting point: since installing the paid product after being blown away by the Trial, VS9 is SOOOOOO slow. If the Trial had been this slow I prolly wouldn't have bought it.

Hi Willy

Projects are *.vsp files (video studio project)

If you want to open a project, go to File –Open Project select a *.vsp file. (Ctrl+O)

When you want to insert a video file, browse your hard drive for an *.mpg or *.avi file.

Holy moly! I should be too embarassed to ever show my face here again. What a dumb mistake: I have no excuse; I've been using VS9 for at about two months now.

I'm going to risk shooting myself in the foot again:
How can I join three projects together? And can I put a transition between them?

Hi Willy

Once you have completed the editing, create a video file for each project.
Share – Create Video File.

Start a new project inserting the new video files. Now you can use transitions between the clips. Render the three to one file.

You have the option to keep the new files separate, when you burn your dvd there will be three thumbnails in the menu page, one for each. You will be able to play the disc from start to end, playing all three, granted with a little pause between each file.

So that was my mistake: I was trying to open the three projects at the same time. So, make a video of each project and add the three videos together!
Thank you.

And whilst I have your kind attention, can you answer this for me: I downloaded the patch for the full version - the one to allow double layer, and when it ran it asked if I wanted to uninstall the program. Is that right? Does it uninstall to reinstall? I bought the full version in February.

Hi Willy

Installing the patch does NOT prompt you to un-install the program.
Are you selecting the correct program file, the update patch is called :-

Ulead VideoStudio 9 Update Pack (Release Date: 2005/08/12 )

File name UVS9Full_Patch1_5in1.exe

And is 18.9Mb

After double clicking the file you are asked to select a language, the program then installs with no other prompts.

When you start VS 9 the screen with the smiling lady has a white background. This is the only way I know to identify that the patch has been installed.

Hey Trevor,
Well, the file I had was the correct one but its' behaviour was far from correct: maybe it got corrupted during download. I down'd another one and it installed correctly, but s'funny, 'cos my smiling lady always had a white background - even before the patch. Might it be that they have updated the downloadable full version? Anyway - no matter, there are more important things to worry about.

I'll post again about this next point - when I've tried it again, checking all the settings. Thing is, I tried my first burn today, and gave up after 2 hours: it had progressed 1%!
I later burned the same collection of mpegs in 40 minutes with Nero.
I'm going to re-read the recommended procedures and check all my settings and have another go. I hope I can get it to work because Nero refuses to burn DL. I'll post again when I can be more specific.

Thanks very much for your help.

Mismatched file formats - problem auto recording w/VS 2.0

Post by lynmar64 »

I've been using Video Studio 2.0 for over a week now. I'm mostly happy with the product, but I'm having trouble auto recording. I'm using TitanTV as the scheduler. If I record one project, it works OK, but if I have a second one the same day - I get the "mismatched file format" problem. The program won't open at all, and I get no recording.

I'm trying to figure out if something is causing Video Studio 2.0 not to open, such as a screensaver. I've checked Norton Antivirus, and I think I've made allowances. Would really like to get this to work properly!!

I guess I should clarify - I'm using Ulead Video@Home 2.0 software, with ADSTech Instant TV (v 1.5) .

Still having trouble auto recording, and sometimes I get an error "can not open capture device", or something similar to that.

When Video@Home closes, USB Instant TV won't

Post by lynmar64 »

Another problem I seem to be having with Video@Home 2.0, is that when the program closes, the ADS USB Instant TV box WON'T power off. Then, when the software tries to restart again, I get an error like, "can't switch to capture mode".

Anyone run into this problem before?? I have to do a manual restart to get this to work in the normal fashion (auto recording).
