Captured video plays 10x speed

Post by guitarhead »

Using VideoCreator 8, capturing video via Pinnacle DV80. Tried to capture video both as AVI and then as MPEG. Original video is 5 minutes long (and takes that long to record) but the resulting file is only 42 seconds long. Windows Media player and VideoCreator plays the captured file like watching video on FF. Capture rate is at 27fps... sound is captured and video quality is good. Appreciate any help - spent 3hours and multiple settings with no success.

And this has what to do with Video Studio? Or is your reference to VideoCreator 8 a typo? If in fact it is Video Studio 8, did it come with the capture device? Being a Pinnacle device, I would have thought it would come with one of the Pinnacle editing programs eg Pinnacle Studio 8/9/10...? At the very least, the speed you show is not normal. For NTSC, it should be 29.97 fps and for PAL 25 fps.

Sorry, my bad (typos and bad memory). I'm using ULead VideoStudio 8SE that came bundled with an IEEE PCI card. The capture speed is 29.97 NTSC. Transferring from a non-digital device which is why I'm using the Pinnacle DV80 as the link from the vcr to PC.

Thanks.

As I suggested, Pinnacle is notorious for having proprietary hardware which only works with its own software. Did your DV80 come with any Pinnacle-labelled software? If so, you might have to use that instead of VS8 SE for capture in DV format, then simply open the captured files in VS8.
