Windows Error - MF4 shuts down

Post by we-bogus »

MF4 quits and shuts down during the burn process. I get the "send error to Microsoft" message. I had this happen once or twice during the creation process but now I cannot get a project to burn a disk withou the error.

I am using a source MPG of over 5gb but the trimmed frames are much less. Could this be the problem?

System has 160gb free disk, 1.5gb RAM, and 3gb virtual RAM.

Thank You

Firstly please complete your system specifictions on your profile page.
Then tell us as much as you can about the procedure you have followed.
what was the source of the clip(s) How did you import it (them) into your computer. What are the settings of the clip(s) in terms of bit rate, sound format, length, file size, screen dimensions etc.
What did you do after importing into your computer - such as edits, transitions, titles, filters etc.
What Settings have you used to try and burn your DVD. Was this to a disk, Hard Drive folder, ISO image?

At the moment it's a bit like someone saying "My car won't start - why?"

This kind of thing can happen when you edit MPEGs. :( MPEGs are not meant to be edited. You don't always end-up with a video file that crashes Ulead, but it's not unusual to get some slight file-corruption that throws the audio & video out of sync.

If possible, capture and edit in the AVI/DV format. If you are stuck with the MPEG format, you may need a special-purpose MPEG editor.

If that's the case, check out VideoReDo ($50) and Womble ($50 - $140). Except for the $140 Womble program, these are only video editors. You may still need to use Movie Factory for authoring and burning DVDs, etc.
