Insufficient space previewing

Post by ericas »

When I try to preview my video I get the message "Insufficient space on this drive". There is 67GB free space on the drive so that is surely not the problem. When I look at what happens at C:/MSP6 Preview Files, the .avi file goes to 1.042.058kb but stops there. What is the problem? I did not limit hard disk usage under File/Preferences/Preview.

How big is the source file? When did you defrag your drive the last time? Did you empty your preview temp folder prior to this project?

The video is about 50 minutes, the avi-file about 400.000kb and the .000 files about 10GB. The drive is quite new so I havent seen needs to defrag yet. There are no other files in the preview. I use Ulead MediaStudio Pro 6.0 and my system is Windows XP. Is that a problem?

Where did the AVI file come from? 400 MB for 50 minutes seems a bit small. Is it DivX or some other exotic file format?

Don't know what you mean with the .000 file, but around 10 GB for 50 min DV-AVI seems about right.

Can you explain step by step what you are trying to do?

In order to look at the video so that I can edit it, I open it (file/open and then I choose the .dvp file). After that I push the play-button in the down-left corner of the preview box. The picture starts moving in the source-box and it tells estimated time, elapsed time remaining time, free disk space etc. Earlier Unlead did this for the whole video and after that I could watch any part of the video by choosing a spot to start at the timeline. Today Unlead never finnish the first phase, but stops after about 13 minutes (of about 50minutes) It seems it is trying to create a preview file, but some restriction somewhere stops this process and makes Unlead belive there is not disk space enough, even though there is more than plenty of it.
