Audio clip missing few seconds on insert

Post by raygo »

Sometimes when I add or delete say a 10 second video clip in the timeline, I now have to adjust the audio file in the timeline since my selected starting point of the .wav has changed of course.

At times I mess it up so I delete the .wav then drag the original from the audio library back in between 2 other audio clips that were always there.

I insert the audio clip in between the 2 seperate audio clips on the timeline, and the inserted wav is now missing the 1st second or 2..

I play the audio wav in my library just to test it and it plays fine.
how is this possible? I can see missing the end of an audio clip if it doesn't fit completly in between 2 audio clips that were there 1st but why would I lose anything at the beginning?

Where you are inserting the audio, it wouldn't happen to coincide with a transition by any chance, would it?

no..... there are no transitions where I insert.

I'm just taking it out and re-inserting it for 2 reasons..

I either added or deleted a video clip. Then,
In trying to get my wave to start at the same place it started originally, I sometimes mess up so In putting it back in[ original from audio library] and trying to position it in the right place, I lose a couple seconds of the beginning.. In reality, doesn't the whole project timeshift gets delayed or advanced when you pull or add a video clip in relation to your audio wavs. ? would that be a cause?

I had 2 versions of an edited wav and kept putting the shorter one in.
my goof..

btw: on the subject of adding or deleting clips, when it's all done before rendering and I change my mind and want to remove/add another video clip, all of my audio starting and ending point change.. [If I add a 5 second clip or remove a 5 second clip.] Is there any way of not having to move forward or backward many of your audio clips that come after that change point in your timeline? real hassle when I have a mile of audio/video synced after that change point.

In timeline view just left of the video track is a drop down list where you can enable/disable ripple editing.

Thanks Steve,,,

I started playing around with it..
So,
If I want to remove a video clip that has audio under it, which option would I check in[enabled] ripple? would that be audio?

There is a good explanation with pictures in the VideoStudio help file.
Open VideoStudio and at top right of screen click the :?:

In the dialog box click the search tab and put the keyword "ripple" in.
