Importing clips into library (VS7)

I got the video studio a few weeks ago, and successfully completed my first video. Now when I'm working on importing clips into the library for my next video, the program either takes a very long time (half an hour) to import, or just freezes. I am very new at this so any help is appreciated.

We need more information. What does your system configuration look like, how long is the video clip you are importing, what format is it in etc.

video clip is 2 minutes long, in MPEG 1 format. I'm not quite sure what you mean by system configuration

Is you pc capable of coping with the high demands of Video Studio?

Are you running out of memory?
After completing your first move did you delete all unwanted files.
Check your ‘Working Folder’ file/preferences
Check the ‘temp preview folder.’ ‘tools/preview files manager’
