You need to start by completing your system details on your profile page so that we can see what you are working with.

Thank you. There is no problem with your system specs.
I opened my copy it took about 5 seconds.
Just in case one of your pictures in the opening folder is causing a problem try:
file
Preferences
General
There is an option "Always start program in" try changing that location.

If this makes no difference it may be Windows related.
Try running the windows defragmenter
Then try running the Windows Chkdsk function.

Please advise of results.
Thank you

I tried your suggestions, still no change. Defrag, changed location and ran chkdsk. To no avail. Frustrating.

Do you have this problem with any other software.
If not I would try an uninstall/re-install in case a file has become corrupted.

Still no luck

Post by bjdky »

I uninstalled and reinstalled. I uninstalled nero picture and video software, thinking it was corrupted. Still no luck! I even cleared explorer from the registry. I'm at my wits end. I even tried to install in safe mode. Help!

Thanks,

If you installed many codec packs in your system, then it mgiht be the cause. Photo Explorer will try to enumerate all codec packs in your system before it loads.

If you do not need to view video files in Photo Explorer, just rename the VIO folder under the install path of Photo Explorer to some other folder name.

Also you can disable the Thumbnail Cache feature in File->Preference->Cache, this should also improve the startup performance.

In my system Ulead Photo Explorer starts up and ready in 25 sec (without renaming the VIO folder but cache feature is disabled).

Hope this helps.
